So Far...
I would say things are going pretty good. I'm still trying to figure out if the realization of being jobless has really hit me yet, or if the support and prayers of so many friends and family is keeping my attitude more positive than normal (even though I have had my lapses) .
Today was a good day overall. I had a phone interview with my best prospect so far, and got an immediate callback for a face to face interview on the 19th of this month. Awesome! I'm still pounding the pavement though. The biggest thing I am facing right now is making sure that I take the right job. I know that there are jobs out there...I not only want a good one, but I want the right one.
The position that I interviewed for today seems like a great fit for me. It also involves about 50% travel. But sometimes we do what we have to do. I'm concerned about how it would affect Janaa. Rachel will probably be glad to have a break from me (just kidding...I know she misses me every moment I'm gone I would be home on weekends, so other than a few more hours a day, it wouldn't be alot different from the schedule I have now.
I've also applied for positions with Wake Forest University (Winston-Salem) and Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA), essentially doing something along the same lines as what I was doing at Hafele. That would also be something easy to slide into.
I would like to say thanks to everyone so far that has wrote me with a word of encouragement, called to see how things were going, and even spread my resume to people they know...means a lot. I didn't realize I had this network of friends and family willing to help.
I follow up on some other leads tomorrow and Wednesday, and then we're off to Washington DC to go to the Thai embassy for some formality type stuff with J's adoption. I just hope that the stateside adoption stuff can get finished sooner than later.
Anyway, coffee is brewing in the pot, and I found some old computer games that I want to load up and play. Nothing like defending America against international foes with my lightsaber in multiplayer mode of Jedi Knight 2.
I'm glad I'm not in this line. Although Rachel and I have watched some American Idol this year...quite unlike us.
