Bangkok Once Again
I'm on a super slow connection, but wanted to touch base. We're now in Bangkok (actually we're across the street from where we stayed in November). We left Phuket early this morning and arrived about lunch time. Our place is really neat here. It's a place for backpackers...something we're not. We have about 8-9 huge bags between us.
We met Ari's and her family tonight. What a blessing. The time was great. I'm running out of internet time so I'll try to more later.
Sand and Sun
Sunscreen is a great thing, but it is only great when it works. I feel as if I didn't apply any sunscreen. I have a nice sunburn which I'm hoping will turn into a tan. Janaa is very curious as to why my skin is red and why the sun would have cooked it.
Yesterday we took a boat tour to several islands where we swam, ate and took pictures. It was a snorkling trip, but our masks leaked so it was hard to see much. Janaa loved it. Our first stop we just jumped off the back of the boat into the ocean. She didn't like that, but she did enjoy it once she started swimming. The fish were beautiful and as long as they weren't swimming all over her she really liked them. We really enjoyed the second island where the kids were able to explore on their own. During lunch a major rainstorm came through. It didn't last long, but there was a lot of wind and rain for the TINY island. We ended up leaving early from the last island as well because the storm moved along with us.
The islands are beautiful! As you ride on the boat you're surrounded by islands everywhere. Most are not big enough to live on. The boat ride was my favorite part of the trip...Okay well, the food was pretty good too.
Rachel talked to Nipaporn yesterday and our plans are to meet her a week from today, next Thursday. We've had a great trip even with the rain. It's hard to believe we only have 2 more days down in Phuket. Saturday we'll head to Bangkok to meet Janaa's foster sister and her new family as well as the Webers on Monday and Tuesday.
Back in America
This is Brent. Normally this entry would go on my page, but I figured this would be easier. It's currently pouring rain outside my door, and unless it dries up, it may derail some of my landscaping plans this weekend. It's been kinda weird around here, being all by myself. But there are pictures everywhere and I have my Build-a-Bear from J with her talking that keeps me company. I'm very thankful for the Internet and telephones. At least we do get to talk or see each other on webcam. It's just different when the people you care about aren't together. I'm keeping myself busy with work, side projects and the occasional video game. My big indoor project right now is to clean out the upstairs closet. I would show before and after pictures, but maybe not...
My ribs aren't showing yet (maybe after next week). I'm starting to get decent sleep, and I'm doing the laundry very well on a regular basis. I'll be glad when they get back. But I'm happy they're having a wonderful time.
Enjoying Phuket
So all the kids are waking up at the moment. It's raining, but just like the past few days the morning was great and we had a good time on the beach. There aren't a lot of photos of Janaa by herself. I'm not posting photos of the other kids since they are all in the process of being adopted. We want to make sure we protect them. So, sorry about the guy in the background.
The beach is so beautiful, if I haven't mentioned it before. The waves are much stronger and somewhat bigger than we have on the east coast at home. Janaa has LOVED playing in them. She has been great.
Tomorrow we're heading out on a boat to tour a few island and snorkle. It's been a few years since I've been and I'm really looking forward to it. I really hope Janaa loves it as well.
We're gearing up for supper and it appears we'll be walking in the rain. Though we are having a blast we still love and miss everyone.
Quick Update
We had a wonderful morning at the beach. We watched a storm roll in across the ocean that was beautiful, however, we watched a bit too long and had to run through a rain storm to get back to the room. Everything we had was soaked. The rest of the day we spent taking naps, reading books and exploring after the rain.
Janaa slept a lot better last night. Her eyes aren't puffy and purple anymore so we're making progress.
